Jupiter Research Foundation streams live whale songs from Hawaiian waters, typically from beginning of January to end of March plus or minus a couple of weeks. Sounds are digitized and transmitted to shore, compressed as mp3 files, over the cellular phone networks. In addition to the live Shoutcast streams during the winter Humpback season, we also maintain extensive archives of their songs. Typically we store approximately one hour segments in separate files and encode the start time and date in the filename.
This interactive archive program will attempt to retrieve these files from a date and time specified below. It will assume local time in the specified time zone. If you are unable to retrieve a file that you suspect exists, contact the foundation.
